Appliances and Orthotics

The Appliance department provides a service to healthcare professionals, local primary care trusts and general practitioners.

An appliance is worn bodily and includes wigs, collars, spinal supports, footwear, insoles, wrist splints etc.

Patients are referred to the department via a number of routes:

  • Prescription by a Consultant, usually as part of their orthopaedic treatment
  • Self-referral for repair
  • Directly from the General Practitioner

If you require a replacement please speak to the department on 0161 746 2303 as you may require a new referral from your GP.

Clinics are operated on an appointment-only system. There is a trained, qualified Orthotist in attendance at each clinic.

The Orthotic/Appliance Department is located in Altrincham Outpatients Department.

The department works in close liaison with the Orthopaedic department and suppliers of appliances.

Clinics are held at Altrincham Hospital operating on an appointment-only system. The department is located in Altrincham Outpatient Department.
