Information and Services
The Family Support Centre is based close to the hospital
entrance, the Centre is signposted and is based near the Hospital
Restaurant, the offices are located opposite the X-Ray Department
on the way to the Paediatric Emergency Department.
Family Accommodation Support Team
The Family Support Accommodation Team provides accommodation for
families within the hospital accommodation facilities on the second
floor of the hospital. The accommodation team can be
contacted by the nurse looking after your child or the team can be
contacted through the Family Support Department, telephone number
0161 701 8700. If your child is admitted to PICU or PHDU, you
will be offered a single room or a double room if required.
These rooms are based on the 2nd floor of the
For all other wards, families are offered a bed to sleep in next
to their child's bed on the ward. If required, another parent
can stay in the shared accommodation on the second floor, there are
shared accommodation rooms for either males or females. We do
not provide accommodation for siblings.
The Family Accommodation Support Team can provide toiletries for
families, when they come to hospital in an emergency. They
also supply Tea and Coffee packs for the accommodation rooms.
Ronald McDonald House
Families can be referred to the Ronald McDonald House for
accommodation, once your child has been admitted to the hospital,
the ward staff are responsible for sending a referral to the
house. Referrals are prioritised accordingly.
Car parking/blue badge holders
Free car parking passes are issued to families of children who
are admitted to PICU or PHDU. These can be obtained through
the Family Support Accommodation Team or can be obtained from the
Car Parking Office which is based in the Manchester Royal
Infirmary. A form confirming your child's name and car
details and length of staff is required, this can be completed the
ward staff or the Family Support Accommodation Team.
For all other wards, car parking passes can be purchased from
the Cashier's Department which is situated on the Ground Floor in
the main corridor. A weekly car parking pass costs £20 and a
monthly car parking pass costs £40, once your child has been an
inpatient for longer than 2 weeks, you will be entitled to a free
car parking pass. Once you have obtained your pass, this will
need to be shown at the Security Office with your car parking
ticket to validate your departure from the car park.
Car parking at the front of the hospital is limited for a 30
minute drop off time only.
Blue badge holders can park in the disabled areas in the car
parks at the hospital.
