Local Facilities


There is an excellent bus service into Manchester City Centre.  Take any bus to 'Piccadilly' from the stop across the road from the junction of Hathersage Road and Oxford Road.  All these buses pass Oxford Road train station.

To get to Piccadilly train station the bus number: 147 leaves from the stop on the hospital side of Hathersage Road every 10 minutes.  (Check).

Walk-In Centre

If for any reason, a family member needs to attend the Walk-In Centre, this can be accessed through the Accident and Emergency Department at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Local GP Surgery

The nearest pharmacy to the hospital is located on Wilmslow Road.  The address is:-

Shops & Stores

There is a 'Londis Store' opposite the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital entrance on Hathersage Road which incorporates, a Post Office/General Store/Newsagents and Cash Machine

There is a Tesco Express on Upper Brook Street, a Lidl Store and a Super Drug Store on Oxford Road.

Locally on Oxford Road there are several sandwich shops, cafĂ© bars and fast food shops.  These can be found both to the right and the left of Hathersage Road at its junction with Oxford Road.

The 'Curry Mile' as it is locally known can be found to the left of the Hathersage Road and Oxford Road junction approximately a 5 minute walk away.


There is a Natwest Bank, Barclay's Bank on Oxford Road.
