Burns Care Services provides treatment for children and young
people with thermal injuries.
This includes medical and nursing care for seriously injured
children needing ventilation support outside of a paediatric
intensive care unit.
When it opened in 1953, the unit was the first of its kind in
the UK. Today it is the largest specialist burns unit in the

The Paediatric Burn Support group provides help, advice and
support for children and their families. It meets monthly and
provides crèche facilities.
