Service Description

Paediatric cardiology services for the North West are provided as part of a managed clinical network between the Cardiology Department at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and the Royal Liverpool Children's Hospital (Alder Hey) The network covers a region of around 8 million people.

The service provides a full range of paediatric cardiac services from the new-born to young adults (16 years), with both in and out-patient services.

Out-patient clinics are held daily within the department. Clinical examinations, ECG and echo are carried out in the clinic.

Routine cardiac catheters are performed at RMCH, and interventional procedures and surgery takes place as part of the network service at Alder Hey hospital.
