Service Description

Paediatric dietetic services are provided at RMCH by HCPC registered dietitians who have had additional post registration training in paediatric nutrition and dietetics.  Dietitians work as part of most multidisciplinary clinical specialist teams both to inpatients and outpatients.  We provide a high quality, comprehensive dietetic assessment, treatment and monitoring service. Our aim is to maximise nutritional status, growth and development whilst minimising any disease related complications that may be associated with diet.

The special feeds unit hygienically prepares and heat treats most therapeutic feeds and supplements for babies and children whilst in RMCH. Parents and carers can be taught how to prepare any complex feeds ready for discharge to their home.

Additional Support

The Trust recognises and supports breastfeeding as the normal and optimal nutrition for all infants. www.breastfeeding.nhs.uk

In-patient referrals are via the clinical specialist team/ward you are being treated on.  Out-patient referrals are via a CMFT paediatric consultant.
