Education and Research collaborations

Our service is committed to the training and education of junior doctors within our deanery and is a National Grid Training approved service.  Allocated education sessions are organised on a weekly basis for trainees.  In addition, we organise regional educational and training update days for district general paediatricians in endocrinology and metabolic bone metabolism.

The unit is also committed to both clinical and basic science research and has close links with the Endocrine Science Research group at the University of Manchester (the base for Prof Clayton's scientific team) as well as the Medicines for Children Research Network (directed by Professor Clayton).  The service has a proven track record of research and innovation with strong links with local research networks and the Medical Academic Health Sciences Centre (MAHSC) at the University of Manchester. We conduct and take part in several research projects that aim to improve the lives of children with endocrine problems. We hope to deliver the very best of care to all our children and families with complex endocrine conditions.  There are therefore significant opportunities for research.
