Biography

Obtained an Honours BSc (2.1) in Physiology in 1978 and an MBChB at the University of Manchester 1981. I was trained in paediatric gastroenterology in Manchester, London and Sydney before being appointed as a consultant in 1992. My MD thesis was entitled nutritional disturbances in childhood Crohn’s disease. My recent research emphasis & publications have been on quality of life in children with gastrointestinal disease and evidence based child health. I have a major interest in medical education having been Postgraduate Tutor at Booth Hall from 2001-2005 and am currently a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health Specialist Advisory Committee on Gastroenterology.
