Service Description:

The unit provides expert, clinical care to patients and families in a supportive, interdisciplinary, family centred environment with a comprehensive in-patient and out-patient service for children with all forms of emergency and elective paediatric neurosurgical conditions including trauma, tumours, hydrocephalus, spina bifida and other spinal conditions, craniofacial abnormalities, neuro-vascular problems and epilepsy surgery.

The unit has special expertise in the investigation and management of children with spinal dysraphism, mucopolysccharides, epilepsy, Moya Moya and brain tumours.The neurosurgical unit works very closely with the neurological and neuro-oncological services providing comprehensive management of infants and children with complex neurological disorders.

Children who are under the care of the neurosurgery team are cared for on Ward 78.
