Graduated from Calcutta Medical College, India, Asia’s second oldest medical school practicing European Medicine, he has been in UK since 1997. He has been involved in the tertiary management of children with complicated respiratory problems for the past 13 years. He worked as a Research Fellow at the Bristol Children’s Hospital and had published widely in highly rated academic journals (BMJ, Thorax, Clinical and Experimental Allergy). He completed the much-coveted National Grid Training in Paediatric Respiratory medicine from the Sheffield Children’s hospital in 2009 and has been practicing as a Consultant since. He has worked as a Consultant in University Children’s Hospital at Leicester, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital (Liverpool) and had spent working in tertiary institutions overseas before joining Manchester Children’s Hospital in 2015. Dr Maitra and his wife are committed towards increasing awareness of respiratory ailments in the underprivileged areas of the world as their only daughter suffers from asthma and allergies.
