Cerebral Palsy Network

What is it?

A group of health professionals interested in the health care of children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) from across Greater Manchester


A service for children with CP that puts evidence into practice
An integrated service across disciplines, primary, secondary and tertiary care, and agencies

Who can attend?

Any health professional. Those who attend include colleagues from physiotherapy, occupational therapy, paediatrics, orthopaedic surgery, neurology and scientists from the university, Salford Gait Lab, PCTs and acute sector

When and where are the meetings?

Now held yearly at MRI

Why was the Network set up?

  • In response to new evidence-based developments not being accessed by children in Greater Manchester
  • a Hip X ray audit showed that evidence based standards of care not being met in Manchester and the need to develop a Hip Pathway
  • Botulinum toxin meeting leading to proposals to set up a Botulinum Toxin service for spasticity in CP

Vision in children with CP- Miss Jane Ashworth, Consultant Paediatric                                                ophthalmologist

Puberty in children with CP- Dr Mars Skae, Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist
