Children’s Special Needs Nursing Service
We provide a city-wide service giving nursing support within
We train School staff to support the health needs of children
and young people.
We provide nursing and dietetic advice and input for children
and young people during school holidays.
We work with the multi-agency teams and other agencies.
Identifying safeguarding issues.
We also undertake:
- Pre and post discharge involvement
- Tracheostomy care/gastrostomy care
- Training for families and carers of children with complex
Individual care planning
Special Needs nurses are based in the eith Special Needs Schools
across Manchester: 1. Lancasterian 2. Camberwell Park 3. The
Birches 4. Ashgate 5. Piper Hill 6. Melland High 7. North Ridge 8.
Rodney House Special Needs Community Nurse (SNCN) and Special Needs
Community Dietitian (SNCD) are based at Longsight Health Centre,
526 Stockport Road, Longsight, M13 ORR
Monday to Friday 8.30 am - 4.30 pm

Severe learning disability, complex health needs, profound and
multiple learning disability and physical disabilities such as
autism, epilepsy, children with emotional behavioural difficulties,
developmental delay, cerebral palsy, degenerate conditions.
Open to all children and young people in a special needs
Referrals to be made via the CCS1 Children and Young
People's Service referral form, emailed to cmm-tr.ManchesterCCNT@nhs.net
If you wish to refer a child for a blood test, please use
the CCS1 Children and Young People's Service

Form (for topical anaesthesia) and forward to the team
Referrals are triaged each morning and afternoon.
