Sedation Department
This hospital does not provide routine
restorative dental care, for adult patients, under sedation or
general anaesthetic. A very small number of patients are treated,
when staff training is required.
In addition, adults with significant special
needs that prevent them from receiving dental treatment in any
other way, are also treated.
We suggest you contact the patient's Primary
Care Trust for details of colleagues who do provide this treatment
in the Primary Care setting.
The Oral Surgery clinics commonly use sedation
and general anaesthetic to assist in the extraction of teeth and
other surgical procedures. Should you feel this is appropriate for
your patient, we suggest you refer your patient directly to your
local Oral Surgery unit, with recent, high quality radiographs of
the affected teeth.
