REQUESTS FOR INVESTIGATIONS

The PAS/OCM system should be the primary route for request generation (See page 5).

REPORT GENERATION AND DISTRIBUITION

Haematology results are printed, in a cumulative format, from a central point in the laboratory where they are validated before being issued to wards, clinics and GP surgeries. On the CMMC site, once authorized the result can be accessed electronically via Clinical Workstation (this excludes Blood Transfusion reports).
In-patient reports are distributed at 10.00 am to 2.00 pm (all wards and departments) and 4.00 pm (wards).
Out-patient reports are generated throughout the day.
Reports are despatched each day to GPs via the Courier Service.

Reports from the Transfusion Lab are delivered the following day by portering staff.
