Young People's Event

Each year (around June) the Membership Team hosts a Young People's Open Day.  Over the years, around 2,550 young people with their teachers, friends and parents have attended and not only gained an insight into our organisation, but also discovered more about career opportunities in the NHS, volunteering and work experience in our hospitals in addition to receiving health and well-being advice from our health experts. If you would like to find out more, please contact the Foundation Trust Membership Office.

Attendees found out about NHS careers and health services for young people at the latest annual Open Day for Young People, held on Wednesday 29th June.

The event was aimed at young people aged 11-21, and they could drop in any time to see our exciting career and information stands and test a new health advice app in our special 'Looking After You' area. Click on the flier image to find out more about the event.

Our staff were very happy to talk about their roles in the NHS, in addition to providing health information. There were also plenty of un interactive sessions for everyone to join in, including Wii yoga, arm casts and emergency first aid training. Our employment team were also available to tell attendees about work experience opportunities, and they could also find out how to become a hospital volunteer and join our Youth Forum.

Our Governors (elected representatives for members and the public) were available to talk to delegates about their role and the benefits of being an NHS Foundation Trust Member, and listened to views on our future priorities and health care services.

Very interesting really interactive and very enthusiastic stall holders. (Altrincham College)

Our students could not stop talking about the stands they thought they were amazing. The students found the people really easy to talk to and they answered all their questions in a way that they understood. (Flixton Girls' School)

This is the best event we have been to - we have been coming for the last four years. Loads of interesting people to talk to and activities to do. (Manchester Health Academy)

Past Events

At the 2015 event we had some exciting new career and information stands, including medical engineering, our A&E team and eye care (orthoptics). Also new for 2015 was our 'Looking After You' health advice area.

Our staff talked to delegates about their roles in the NHS, in addition to providing health information.  There were also plenty of fun interactive sessions, and our employment team were available to tell guests about work experience opportunities, and how to become a hospital volunteer.
