Young People's Event

Each year (around June) the Membership Team hosts a Young People's Open Day.  Over the years, around 2,550 young people with their teachers, friends and parents have attended and not only gained an insight into our organisation, but also discovered more about career opportunities in the NHS, volunteering and work experience in our hospitals in addition to receiving health and well-being advice from our health experts. If you would like to find out more, please contact the Foundation Trust Membership Office.

Young People's Event 2017 - Tuesday 27th June

Our eighth annual interactive Open Day will be held on:

  • Tuesday 27th June 2017 from 10.00am to 3.00pm in the Nowgen Centre, Grafton Street, M13 9WU (near Manchester Royal Infirmary). Click here for directions.

As well as stands covering NHS careers ranging from Nursing and Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Cancer Care, Medical Photography, Medical Engineering, IT and many more, there will also be brand new stands for 2017.  These include Children & Young People's Nursing Education, Radiology, Cardiac Physiology, Vascular and Urgent Care Medicine.

Popular interactive sessions this year include learning how to do CPR (basic resuscitation), accident prevention, beating the bugs that can cause serious infections, using microscopes to identify cells, checking blood pressure and finding out more about diseases of the circulation, including veins and arteries.

Delegates can also get plenty of information and advice about looking after their mental and emotional health, dental and eye care and healthy eating, as well as finding out about how to become a volunteer in our hospitals or join our Youth Forum.

Attendees can also participate in the popular interactive activities provided by our plastering team!

We are also keen to hear views about health services for young people, and encourage young people to get more involved by becoming members of our Foundation Trust. Our Membership Team and Governors (membership representatives) will be available to talk to attendees about the benefits of being a young member.
