The Department of Haematology laboratories are equipped with a range of modern analysers providing a comprehensive test repertoire and services for general haematology and blood transfusion.
The laboratory is open for routine services Monday - Friday 8.30am
to 5.15pm.
The Out-of-Hours service covers the remainder of the 24 hour period, weekends and Bank holidays for urgent and emergency work.
We aim to provide a high quality, user-responsive service to
clinical users and ultimately patients of the Trust and within the
region.
The department also offers specialist haematological testing
services for the Trust and regional hospitals for referral
investigations into thrombosis & haemophilia,
haemoglobinopathy, molecular oncology and bone marrow
transplantation.
The department leads and collaborates in several major research and
development activities and is represented annually at national and
international meetings for Clinical and Laboratory Haematology.
