Blood Transfusion

The Blood Transfusion Laboratory at Central Manchester University Hospitals is inside the purpose-built Haematology Laboratory on the ground floor of the Clinical Sciences Centre. The laboratory offers a comprehensive service to all hospital patients and departments within CMFT.

The transfusion laboratory is part of the Department of Haematology and is in the Clinical and Scientific Services (CSS) division of the Trust.

The service accredited by the Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA) and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The Hospital Transfusion Team

The Hospital Transfusion Team (HTT) includes both clinical and scientific staff with full information technology and management team support, providing a liaison forum between clinical users and groups/specialties and the laboratory service providers.

The remit of the HTT is the development of patient-centered safe and efficient services; to build on present service provision and to ensure continued efficient, high quality standards are maintained in all aspects of transfusion medicine.
