Therapeutic Stem Cell facilities

The Therapeutic Stem Cell Laboratory at Central Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been granted a licence, No.22596, under Section 16 of the Human Tissue Act 2004.

The laboratory consists of five main areas:

  • Aseptic Suite, consisting of a first change, preparation laboratory, and two clean rooms each with their own second change rooms
  • General laboratory
  • Liquid nitrogen storage area
  • Storage
  • Office and office area

The therapeutic stem cell laboratory is a state of the art facility with a full air handling system, a large category C main laboratory and two category B GMP laboratories. Within each GMP room open processes are performed within category A laminar flow cabinets. The laboratory is well equipped with Planer programmable freezers, a COBE 2991 cell processor and a Clinimax cell separation system.
