Adult Histopathology - high risk specimens

It is essential for the Health and Safety of all staff that patients who are identified as being in the high risk category have samples appropriately labelled. Examples in this category would be HIV, AIDS, TB, Hepatitis B or C.

High risk specimens will be fixed for up to 48 hours before processing. Frozen sections (including specimens for immunofluoresence) will NOT be carried out on high risk specimens.
