EMA Binding Assay (HS Screen)
The assay is useful in the diagnosis of Hereditary Spherocytosis
(HS). The results should be interpreted alongside a full blood
count and morphological assessment of a peripheral blood film.
Specimen transport: At room temperature.

carried out on blood that is <24 hours old. Samples can be
stored at 4°C prior to analysis.

Factors affecting the test: The test is not
recommended for use on infants who are <1 year old as there is
an increased likelihood of a false positive result.
