Change to urate units and reference range

In line with UK Pathology Harmony recommendations we have made the decision to move to a change in units of measurement for urate from mmol/l to umol/l.

Please note this means a 1000 fold increase in numerical result.

In addition there will be an amendment to the adult reference range for urate in line with Pathology Harmony.

The new reference ranges and units for urate measurement - effective from 2nd June 2014 - are as follows:

2 mth to 12 yrs 120 - 320 umol/l
Male over 13 yrs 200 - 430 umol/l
