Primary care users rate our pathology services as “excellent”

A survey of GP practices has revealed that Central Manchester University Hospitals' Directorate of Laboratory Medicine provides an "excellent" service to primary care users.

Each of our six laboratory departments was rated in the highest category by GPs and practice staff, while our Business Support Centre, electronic order communications and courier service also received glowing praise.

The survey, which is part of our continuing drive to better support our GP clients, also highlighted some areas in which we could further improve our services. Several of these have already been taken on board and solutions have been put in place, with all comments and suggestions being thoroughly reviewed.

The 30 GP practices for which CMFT is the primary pathology service provider were asked to rate our services on a range of factors and tell us how we could serve them better.

Each of our laboratory departments - Biochemistry, Haematology, Histology, Microbiology/Virology, Cytology and Immunology - was rated in the highest category as "excellent".

Respondents also praised the advice and assistance available from the Business Support Centre, and the electronic order communications system, with both scoring in the "excellent" category.

Our courier service, which transports samples between practices and the labs, is very highly regarded, with its pick up times, punctuality and the professionalism and courtesy of its staff receiving the three highest average scores.
