Roche CoaguChek XS

Located in Anti-Coagulation Clinic, Endoscopy, Ward
35, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Gorton Parks Intermediate Care
Home and Withington Cataract Centre.
The Roche CoaguChek XS Pro Plus devices are used to monitor INR
levels in patients who are taking warfarin. It is important for a
patient to be prescribed sufficient warfarin to stop blood clots
forming but equally important to ensure that too much warfarin is
not prescribed which could lead to excessive bleeding.
A quality control test is performed on the devices every day
before they are used for patient testing. The meters are also
registered in a national external quality assurance scheme.
CoauChek XS operators take part in proficiency testing to
evidence their continued competency in using the devices.
