Manchester University Foundation Trust is a leading teaching hospital Trust for developing clinical academic careers amongst Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional (NMAHP) staff. A dedicated team lead this work, forming a close collaboration between the Trust and The Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at The University of Manchester.


MFT NMAHP Fellowship Programme 2018
The NMAHP Fellowship programme has been funded through Trust charitable funds for nursing, midwifery and allied health professional staff employed at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Key priority areas for the 2018 Fellowships are nutrition, oral health and patient experience. Three awards are available:

  1. Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic Bridging Fellowship
    The Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic Bridging Fellowship is aimed at practitioners seeking to undertake Doctoral studies to further a clinical academic career. The Fellowship offers 50% backfill up to 1 year (maximum of £20,000). Expected outputs to include a Doctoral application for funding and a submission for publication.
  1. Fees Only Doctoral Fellowship
    The Fees Only Doctoral Fellowship is available to Consultant NMAHP staff only. A confirmation of Doctoral study eligibility is required from a Higher Education Institution as part of the application process.
  • Post-Doctoral Clinical Academic Bridging Fellowship
    The Post-Doctoral Clinical Academic Bridging Fellowship is aimed at practitioners seeking to develop their clinical academic career to post-doctoral level or towards a clinical professorial level. The Fellowship offers 50% backfill up to 1 year (maximum of £35,000). Expected outputs include a post-doctoral application for

MFT NMAHP Research Strategy

We have held seven consultation events at the MRI, Trafford and Wythenshawe hospital sites to develop a new MFT NMAHP Research Strategy. Over 150 staff have attended these events. The strategy will be launched at the MFT NMAHPPP Research conference on 11 May 2018.


MFT NMAHP Research Conference, 11 May 2018

The next MFT NMAHP research conference will take place on 11 May 2018 in the Postgraduate Centre, MRI. As with the 2017 NMAHP conference, the day will showcase the great NMAHP research conducted in MFT. The conference will also see the launch of a new, MFT NMAHP research strategy.
