Organ and Tissue Donation

Here at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we aim to reduce the number of people waiting for a life saving organ by increasing the number of organs available for transplant.

The Manchester Royal Infirmary is one of the North West's leading renal and pancreatic transplant centres.  We aim to have the same status across the whole of our Trust by increasing the number of organs available for transplant.

We have established an Organ Donation Committee which will work on behalf of the Trust to promote awareness of organ donation.  We aim to overcome and relieve any fears and objections concerning organ donation by raising awareness through education.

We will promote organ donation as a gift of life and give our patients and their families the opportunity to carry out their own wishes and the wishes of loved ones with regards to organ donation.  We aim to make Organ Donation a usual rather than unusual event.
