Interpretation and Translation Service
The Interpreting & Translation Service (ITS)
facilitates communication between staff which
includes doctors, nurses and other health
professionals, and patients, families and
carers who are unable to communicate using English. We provide
interpreting services for in excess of 80
We work with our own team of interpreters, as well as a
number of partner agencies, to provide face to face
interpreters. We also arrange telephone interpreting and
translation. Our interpreters go through strict recruitment
procedures, are trained professionals, and follow a code of
practice and observe strict confidentiality. The Trust has an

How can I access the service?
If you require an interpreter booking for a hospital
appointment then you must arrange it through the hospital
department or service you are visiting. We only accept bookings
from authorised staff members.
Unfortunately we cannot take bookings directly.
Interpreters are available 24 hours, seven
days a week for in-patients,
out-patients and within community
