Congratulations Gemma Louise: Health Visitor Student of the Year

Congratulations to Gemma Louise King for winning the 'Health Visitor Student of the Year' Award by the Community Practitioners and Health Visiting Association (CPHVA).

The annual CPHVA Awards highlight good practice and professional development and recognise the valuable contribution that health visitors make to the health and well-being of communities.

CPHVA, part of the Unite union, is UK's leading professional organisation for health visitors, school nurses, nursery nurses and other community nurses working in primary care.

The awards ceremony was held at the OXO Tower in London earlier this spring. The finalists came from all over the UK and all the nominees were treated to a sumptuous three-course lunch where they were encouraged to network and share good practice with their peers and the CPHVA's professional team before the winners were announced.

Gemma said: "Winning this award is a personal achievement. I am absolutely overjoyed and honoured to have this accolade after an intensive and challenging year. Working in the Northenden Health Visiting Team has been an amazing experience and I could never have achieved as much as I did without their ongoing support."

Gemma featured in this month's CPHVA journal alongside the other winners. This is the second year that the Northenden Health Visiting Team has been represented at the national awards. Last year, The Northenden Team won the national Community Practitioner Team 2013 and Sarah Mills, student health visitor based at Northenden, was the runner-up for the Student Health Visitor of the Year Award 2013.
