Discovery UK’s Body Invaders: Sunday 14th October at 10.00 pm

Tune in to the Discovery Channel's new documentary on 14th October to see our very own Mr Sandher, Orthopaedic Surgeon, being interviewed about the case of Malaysian cyclist Azizulhasni Awang.  Mr Awang was in Manchester in February 2011 to compete at the Track World Cup and it was during the men's Keirin final that his calf was skewered by a shard of Siberian pine from the track!

The series chronicles the shocking accidents which left the most bizarre foreign objects ever to find themselves in the human body. Talking to the victims, those that were there at the scene and using CGI and x-rays this series recounts some of the most inexplicable, unexpected and simply astounding stories in modern medicine.

Using testimony and reconstruction the series focuses on how these dangerous and bizarre objects found themselves in the body and why they were often inches away from being fatal.  How did that get there and how did they get it out? Those are going to be the two questions you ask yourself when you watch this brand new series.
