Equality Advocate Initiative launched
Over 60 equality advocates
attended the official launch of the new equality advocate
initiative on Monday, facilitated by non-exec director John
Amaechi. Since the programme was initiated in July, there has been
an overwhelming response from staff with over 100 equality
advocates joining up.
An equality advocate is a voluntary role. It is a member of
staff who is committed to the principles of Equality, Diversity and
Inclusion and is willing to play a key part in promoting the agenda
in their own workplace.
Chairman Steve Mycio offered his support and commitment in his
closing speech: "Equality is about fairness. If we
treat our staff fairly and ensure that everyone achieves their
potential, we also ensure that we deliver excellent service to our
patients and service users. Equality leads us to Quality."
Other Senior Executive Team members, including Margot Johnson,
Bob Pearson, Cheryl Lenney and David Cain also attended the
