Manchester Health Academy hosts annual Open Evening

Manchester Health Academy hosted its annual Open Evening, giving parents of pupils in Years 5 and 6 an opportunity to meet staff and students, and to tour the Academy's fantastic facilities.

The evening was a great success with parents and children fully engaged in a range of activities. Principal Damian Owen provided parents with his and the Governors' vision for the Academy as it moves forward into 2015.

The feedback from parents on the evening was extremely positive.  Parents commented that the Academy was a talking point at the moment within the community, and they recognised strategies which had been implemented to improve teaching and systematically raise standards across the academy as a whole.

With excellent teaching taking place students are focused and ready to learn, pupils are challenged to make exceptional progress. The latest GCSE results in August highlighted these standards with 47% of students gaining 5 A*-C grades.

Mr Owen commented "I was pleased to receive compliments on how well-presented our students are. I know that smart appearance makes a real impression and our focus on standards of uniform, punctuality and behaviour have had an excellent response.  I want all students to be ready to be prepared and ready to learn as soon as they walk into the Academy.  I want students to enjoy school and give their best becoming successful individuals".

The Academy also showed off their new 3G pitch which is available to the community for hire 7 days a week.  Fred the Red and Humphrey the RMCH bear showed off their football skills with a penalty shoot-out with Mr Owen.
