MCFC’s Patrick Viera opens our new Interventional Radiology facility!

Patrick Viera

World Cup winner and former Manchester City F.C. midfielder Patrick Viera has taken time out of his busy schedule toopen our new Interventional Radiology suite this morning.

Patrick chatted to staff, took a short tour of the facility, and finally cut the ribbon to mark the start of a new era at the Radiology department, based in the MRI at the Trust.

The facility will be used for both diagnostic and therapeutic work including minimally invasive treatments for vascular disease, insertion and maintenance of access for dialysis, lines for treatments such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, and emergency procedures such as embolization following trauma.

Viera, 36, who played 45 times for City at the end of his career - which included spells at Arsenal, AC Milan, Juventus, and Internazionale - is now a football development executive at the club, a role which involves overseeing the club's youth team players and promoting community projects.
