New cardiac parents' coffee morning a success

Coffee Morning

A coffee morning organised and arranged by the Specialist Nurses in Paediatric Cardiology based at RMCH, and supported/attended by the Children's Heart Association, has been set up to provide support to new parents of children with cardiac conditions.

Aimed primarily at the parents of babies under the age of 6 months, this is an opportunity to meet other mums and dads in a similar situation, learn about the Children's Heart association and chat to the paediatric cardiac specialist nurses.

The event, held at Ronald McDonald House and attended by seven families, made up of seven mums, two grandmothers and six babies, parents dropped in between 10am and 12pm, and stayed as long as they wanted.

Four beauty students from Manchester College, approcahed by Kissing it Better, were there to give hand massages and manicures, and generally pamper the mums and grandmothers. The morning was a huge success, and more coffee mornings are set to take place later in the year.
