New Menu for Children's Ward
From today patients on Ward 84 at the Royal Manchester
Children's Hospital will have more choice on the menu.
This forms part of the new Patient Dining Experience and follows
extensive research into what the patients and parents wanted to see
improved in the provision of catering on the ward. We also
held several tasting sessions.
Helen Jackson, Ward Manager says: "We have been working with our
meal supplier in order to develop a two-week rotating menu that
will provide a range of different meals for our patients.
"Many of our patients are dealing with cancer and it is
important that they are offered a range of appetising and
"We hope that the new menu, together with other initiatives such
as protecting meal times for patients and additional snack rounds
will improve the overall dining experience for our patients."
If the new menu and improvements work well it is hoped that this
will be implemented across other wards in the hospital.
Sodexo provides a wide range of facilities management services
at the Trust, including patient dining. Sodexo Facilities
Matron Yvonne Spencer adds: "Good food is a key aspect of patient
care, and we have worked closely with young patients and the ward
team to develop a wider choice of tasty meals."
