New Resuscitation Unit opens

The Emergency Department's newly refurbished and enlarged resuscitation unit was officially opened this week by Non-Executive Director, John Amaechi and longtime Volunteer Graham Watkins.

At the ceremony, speeches were made by Clinical Director Dr Steve Jones and Graham who thanked and acknowledged the work of all members of staff, including volunteers, porters, receptionists, security and clinical staff and their contribution to treating the 1,000 patients on average who visit the department each day.

The new area provides a much larger modern facility for both staff and patients.

The next phase in the Emergency Department's journey is the development of a new Mental Health Assessment Room which will be completed within the next few months.
