NHS Health Check

The NHS Health Check is a free service offered to adults in England between the ages of 40 and 71. It provides clients with circulatory and vascular checks and determines what the risk is of acquiring the disease. Members of the public without a pre-existing condition should expect to receive a letter from their GP or local authority within the next few years inviting them to engage with the service.

NHS Health Checks offer a number of benefits, including the ability to spot early signs of development in some serious conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure and even diabetes. It is common for these diseases to become more prominent as we get older, which means a Health Check could be highly beneficial for those looking to embrace a prolonged and more healthy lifestyle.

It's worth noting that private health providers will offer the same services by the NHS, but at a price. The check is usually done in GP surgeries and local pharmacies, however it may also be offered at other accessible places that are convenient for the public. Some of these can include leisure centres, or even mobile units to passers-by (pictured). There are also a number of other ways for adults to examine the condition of their health: Online tests are provided on the NHS website and grant users the opportunity to choose from a variety of checks.

Once an NHS Health Check has been completed it will be reviewed by a healthcare professional who will discuss the results with you. Advice will then be given in order to improve one's health and support will be offered regarding the procedures that need to be followed to accomplish this.
