Pharmacy staff pitch their ideas to expert 'Dragons’ Den' panel
An event held on Tuesday at the Nowgen Centre saw our Pharmacy
staff pitch ideas about how to improve service delivery to a
specially-selected panel of 'Dragons'.
The competition, which was run in conjunction with Pfizer Ltd,
saw project leads explain their ideas to the Dragons Den,
comprising of eight Senior Leaders & Directors from our Trust,
South Manchester and Sheffield Hospitals as well as from Pfizer.
The event also included an exhibition displaying all ideas and
concepts put forward by each competitor.
The brief for staff was to create a one-page summary of
development projects that will deliver sustained service
improvements for patients and colleagues throughout the Trust. Each
summary includes: the case for action, delivery plan, key
milestones and expected outcomes.
After assessing the summaries and exhibition stands, the Dragons
discussed all 15 projects in a closed session, and identified a
select few to discuss in greater depth with the project authors. At
these later sessions they deconstructed the project plans and
identified potential areas for improvement, which will ultimately
increase the likelihood of a successful outcome.
Dave Pearson, one of the Dragons, and Divisional Director for
the Trust's Clinical and Scientific Services Division, said: "This
is a fantastic programme which will lead to real improvements to
the Pharmacy Service for our patients. The programme will equip
team members with new skills and competencies which will be of
benefit for years to come."
