Trust hosts a national event for international doctors

International Doctors

Our Trust collaborated with General Medical Council to host  80 international doctors from all over the UK on 20th January 2014 in a national event at our Postgraduate Centre.

The delegates were new international doctors qualified from India, Syria, Afghanistan, Nigeria etc who have recently started clinical practice in the UK. The theme of the event was 'Challenges for International Doctors: Practical solutions for promoting professionalism and patient safety'.

Mr Peter Mount, Chairman of the Trust, introduced the event and encouraged international doctors to take up formal leadership roles. Dr Sujesh Bansal (CMFT International Tutor) and Ms. Tista Chakravarty-Gannon (Regional Liaison Adviser, General Medical Council) facilitated the day and representative from Royal College of Paediatrics, Deaneries and REACHE NW (Refugee and Asylum Seekers Centre for Healthcare Professionals Education) also attended the event and appreciated the leadership taken by our Trust to support new International doctors with the view of promoting professionalism and patient safety.

There has lots of nation-wide interest for our similar future event. The next Event for new international doctors would be held on 1st July 2014 at Postgraduate Centre, CMFT. Please contact Dr Sujesh Bansal (sujesh.bansal@cmft.nhs.uk) for further information.
