TV award on show at RMCH!

tv awardThe four-part TV documentary series "Kid's Hospital:  Your Child in Their Hands" that aired on Channel 5 in May won the Royal Television Society North West Award for Best Factual Series at a ceremony in Manchester last month.

Last week staff and patients at RMCH got the chance to see the trophy, including four year old Eliza Gornal who underwent a renal transplant with a kidney donated by her father in one of the episodes.  Eliza is pictured right with her mum Debbie and transplant surgeon Afshin Tavakoli who performed the operation and had also appeared in the episode.

The series, made by TV production company Films of Record, was a hard-hitting and emotional journey that focused on a number of children being treated at RMCH, often for chronic conditions or in emergency situations, through the eyes of their parents.  Films of Record had previously made two stand-alone documentaries on RMCH at Christmas which were broadcast by Channel 5 in 2014 and 2015.
