College Students Consider Career in the NHS

Yesterday, over 100 students from Loreto College, Parrswood and Stockport Colleges visited Manchester Royal Infirmary in a quest to find out more about careers in the National Health Service. Organised as part of the Health Science/Research & Development Exhibition Week, this day gave a great opportunity for the students to learn from staff within the organisation about working in the NHS. The students had a chance to hear from a range of healthcare professionals giving them an insight into a few of the hundreds of careers within the NHS. These included – Radiography, Podiatry, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Nursing, Clinical Sciences and joining the medical team. There was also the chance for the students to discuss career options direct with the health professionals, as well as looking around the Research & Development exhibition. The students also took part in a debate titled: “Making Babies: What choices are available? – which was hosted by Nowgen, the North West Genetics Knowledge Park. The feedback from the students was really positive and we hope to see them again in a few years’ time!
