Re-appointment of our Chairman and Non-executive Directors
The Central Manchester and Manchester Children’s University Hospitals NHS Trust is pleased to announce the re-appointments of Peter Mount as Chair and Anthony Leon and Jo Somerset as Non-executive directors on our Board, each to serve a further term from 1 December 2008 to 30 November 2009.
The re-appointments have been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA) Code of Practice.
All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public. All re-appointees have not declared any political activity or any other ministerial appointments held.
Peter Mount joined the Trust in 2001 from Salford Royal Hospitals NHS Trust, where he was Chairman since 1994.
He graduated in Mechanical and Production Engineering from UMIST and worked for Rolls Royce, Price Waterhouse and was Chief Executive of several of the Thorn EMI Fire and Security Companies in Europe and the USA.
He will receive a remuneration of £23,020 per annum.
Peter Mount says: "I am delighted that I have been asked to continue my role as Chair. It is an incredibly exciting time for the organisation at the moment with the opening of the new hospitals, including the new children’s hospital on the horizon. When these new hospitals open next summer we will have excellent accommodation and state-of-the-art facilities for our patients."
Anthony Leon, Non-executive director
He joined the Trust in 2001 and was previously Chairman of the Mancunian Community Health NHS Trust since 1995. He also holds non-executive director roles in other organisations including Mercury Re-cycling Group PLC, Aerobox PLC and Regenesis Group PLC.
Jo Somerset, Non-executive director
She joined the Trust in 2001 and was previously a Non-executive director at Central Manchester Healthcare NHS Trust. Her special interests are in human resources and organisational development. Jo also has roles in other organisations including Director – Infrastruct Ltd, Manchester (Business Consultancy); Trustee of the William Walter (Will Trust) and Director, Bikeright! Ltd (Cycle Training Company).
Both Non-executive directors will receive a remuneration of £6,005 per annum.
All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public.

The Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospitals NHS Trust was formed on 1st April 2001 and incorporates: Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Booth Hall Children’s Hospital, Saint Mary’s Hospital for Women and Children, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (Pendlebury) and University Dental Hospital of Manchester.
