Trust joins forces with Manchester Academic Health Science Centre
Greater Manchester has ambition to become one of the world leaders for health research, and as such Central Manchester University Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust has joined forces with six research-active NHS organisations in Greater Manchester and the University of Manchester to form the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC). This venture will offer great benefits to the health of the people of the region as well as contributing to enterprise, innovation and economic developments, by networking existing research activity and promoting new research partnerships. MAHSC is the first Academic Health Science Centre in the UK to cover the full spectrum of care – acute, specialist, mental health, primary care and commissioning.
The seven members of the MAHSC collaboration are:
Central Manchester University Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust
Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust
Salford Primary Care Trust
Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust
The University of Manchester
University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust
Central Manchester Trust makes a unique contribution to this partnership through the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre.
