MREH 200 Bicentenary Conference

Manchester Conference Centre, UK

24th - 27th June 2014

In 2014 the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital is 200 years old. This meeting presented all fields of specialty expertise in MREH ophthalmology, in particular those in which there is clinical or research leadership. We invited a number of prestigious speakers from around the world who are either alumni of, or friends and collaborators with the staff here. The conference has been awarded 23 CPD points by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Programme included:

  • Imaging day (with the Ophthalmic Imaging Association)
  • Retina day
  • Ophthalmic Nursing Day
  • Glaucoma day
  • Paediatric Ophthalmology & Genetics day
  • Ophthalmology Research day

Half-day sessions on:

  • Cornea
  • History of MREH and Ophthalmology
  • Neuro-ophthalmology
  • Orbital & Oculoplastic Surgery
  • Uveitis
  • Optometery and Vision Science

You are invited to attend our conference, where we hope that you will meet many old friends, see our work presented, and visit both new MREH (occupied in 2009) and old MREH (currently being rebuilt as a research centre). We also invite free papers and posters. There will be a prize of £1,000 for the best submitted poster and the best oral free presentation.. There will be a conference reception and a bicentenary dinner at the Manchester Town Hall on Thursday June 26th.

The Manchester Royal Eye Hospital is the 4th oldest in the UK, and probably in the world; we are the second largest eye hospital in Europe. We are proud of both our heritage, and our current status as one of the world's premier specialty eye hospitals and we hope that you share our pride and affection.
