Initial building work in Manchester will focus around the Upper Brook Street side of the hospital, particularly the junctions with Grafton Street and Hathersage Road. Although every effort will be made to minimise disruption for traffic, it may be advisable to review how you will be coming to the hospitals.
If possible please try and use public transport. The hospitals are served by many bus routes and for information about services please contact Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) on 0161 228 7811, which is open seven days a week between 8.00am and 8.00pm. You can also visit their web site at Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive
The 147 bus service which runs from Piccadilly Railway Station and is operated by the hospitals and its partners will be extended to link to the new car park, providing access to all parts of the 44 acre hospitals site. It will now run along Oxford Road, down Hathersage Road past Saint Mary's Hospital, left onto Upper Brook Street, passing the Manchester Royal Infirmary's (MRI) Accident & Emergency Department, then left onto Grafton Street, providing access to the out-patients at MRI and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
