Service expansion project by way of a mobile injection suite based at Trafford General Hospital.

Joint working project summary:

The aim of the project is to provide a Macular treatment services closer to the patients' home for those living in South Manchester. The mobile injection suite will provide a fully functioning one-stop service that is consultant-led and delivered by a multi-disciplinary team. The project will provide regular and timely reviews within recommended stipulated timescales and help to ensure that patient care across Greater Manchester conurbation is not compromised due to lack of capacity.


Expected patient outcomes for this project




  1. South Manchester patients will:


  • Be offered the choice to receive their care closer to home at the Trafford site
  • Be reviewed and treated  within 60 minutes of entering clinic
  • Be given the option to book their next appointment on the  day of attendance before leaving clinic


  1. 90% of patients to have a follow-up appointment within the date range requested by the Consultant


  1. Increase injection capacity to enable correct implementation of  Treat and Extend as the default treatment option
