Graduated from McGill University Medical School, Montreal, Canada, in 1978. Trained in Histopathology at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, 1980 - 82; Ophthalmic Pathology at Institute of Ophthalmology, London, 1981; Neuropathology at Institute of Psychiatry, London 1982 - 85; Neuropathology, Histopathology and Ophthalmic Pathology at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Royal Eye Hospital 1985 - 92. Consultant Ophthalmic Pathologist, Central Manchester Hospitals Trust, 1992 to date. Established UK National External Quality Assurance Scheme in Ophthalmic Pathology in 1991. Scheme organiser until 2000. Executive Director UKNEQAS and Pathology Quality Assurance (PQA) 1995 - 99; Member of Royal College of Ophthalmologists Child Abuse Working Party.
