Special Interests:

Medical Retina: Management of retinal disorders including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy, retinal vein occlusions (RVO) and central serous chorio-retinopathy (CSCR). Uveitis: Management of simple & complex uveitis and intraocular inflammatory disorders.


Romi is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and the Clinical Lead for Trafford Macular Unit, a pioneering undertaking of MREH to facilitate high quality, safe and patient-centred macular care for the local population. She graduated from India and subsequently undertook ophthalmic residency training through a national programme at Regional Institute of Ophthalmology. She completed further training in ophthalmology at Manchester, including advanced experience in uveitis and medical retina at Bristol, Manchester and Liverpool. As a Consultant she initially worked at St Paul's Eye Unit, Liverpool for a year before joining MREH. While at St Paul's, she was also the Director of prestigious Liverpool Ophthalmic Reading Centre (LORC) and was involved in the research activities of the Department of Eye and Vision Science, University of Liverpool and the Network of Ophthalmic Reading Centres UK (NetwORC UK). Romi continues to lead on several research projects and has been a primary investigator/co-investigator for international and national trials in her areas of interest. She has published in peer reviewed journals and lectures on international and national platforms.
