Adult Strabismus and Neuro-Ophthalmology

Serivce Description:

There are two teams dealing with adult strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology. A squint may prevent the eyes from working together as a pair. Many adults suffer from eye movement disorders, which may be caused by injury or disease resulting in misalignment if the eyes and in some cases symptoms of double vision.

Our neuro-ophthalmology team deals with visual problems related to the nerve pathways that connect the eyes to the brain.

The medical staff work closely with the orthoptic department who specialise in the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular motility (eye movement) and binocular vision disorders. The Orthoptists carry out tests in order to diagnose which eye muscle(s) is responsible and to help with the relief of symptoms.
