Emergency Eye Department (EED)


The Emergency Eye Department deals with sight-threatening conditions only. Patients may be re-directed if their condition is not an emergency or outside of the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital catchment area.

The Emergency Eye Department is staffed by doctors, ophthalmic experienced nurse practitioners, and optometrists.

Tertiary referrals are permitted only following case discussion with the appropriate team AND acceptance has been provided.

The Emergency Eye Departmentis located in module F on the ground floor. When you enter the main entrance of the hospital, walk to the far end of the atrium, module F is located on the back wall. Patients requiring this service should attend Eye F reception and they will be triaged to the Emergency Eye Department.
