Ward 55 provides care for patients who are either awaiting
or recovering from ophthalmic surgery, or undergoing treatment for
acute ophthalmic conditions. The ward consists of 25 beds, 5 of
which are single isolation rooms. Monday to Friday 25 beds are open
reducing down to 12 beds on a Saturday and Sunday.
The ward consists of the Ward Manager, Janneke Dillon, a Ward
Sister, an experienced team of 17 ophthalmic nurses, a team of 7
Clinical Support Workers, and a team of clerical and domestic
The wards visiting times are 9.00 to 20.30. To enable us to
provide protected mealtimes to our inpatients there is restricted
visiting between 12.20 and 12.40 and 17.00 and 17.30.

We are located on the first floor of the Machester Royal Eye
Hopsital (the yellow zone of the hospital site). The entrance is
located on the Boulevard and lifts up onto the first floor are
located at the back of the atrium near to clinic B.
