A range of professional courses are now available through the
Manchester Cochlear Implant Programme. These courses include topics
that are of interest to professionals in the field who are working
with children who have cochlear implants or children with hearing
loss in general. The cost of these courses is only £10 and places
book quickly so professionals are encouraged to book early.
Spare or replacement equipment
Children often require spare or replacement pieces of equipment.
Spares will be issued at activation and families are encouraged to
contact the centre once any spares have been used to ensure they
always have spares for their children. As the family is responsible
for their own equipment, we are UNABLE to offer spare or
replacement equipment to schools. Schools may request spare
equipment from the family or may purchase it directly from
If any child is unable to hear with their device due to
malfunctioning equipment, the centre should be contacted
immediately. Please clearly indicate that the child is without
sound and every effort will then be made to prioritize the request.
In most cases, we are able to ship parts out to arrive the
following day if a child is without sound, but we must be contacted
before 3 pm to allow for this. Please be aware that every effort is
made to deal with such requests as soon as possible.
